My photography journey did not start when my Photography Collection was debuted at The Artist Cafe in April 2023... These specific photos that were captured in the collection were taken from the years 2017-2022.
It was not until Fall 2022 when Art Director, Kali Green approached me and asked to see my work that I realized that my photographs could be displayed for the community (soon the world) to admire.
Ever since I was a little girl, photography has been a part of my life. I knew by the age of 12 I wanted to be a photographer, but I was told by so many that photography was not a sustainable career... back then it probably wasn't, but the way the Internet and social media has grown within the last 13 years, it absolutely is a booming career choice.
"Stay ready, so you do not have to get ready" was the advice I wish I received. Instead, I did not focus so much on my camera and did not pick one up for years.
Like anything you have a true passion for, photography never left my mind and with the developments of iPhone, I was able to carry a camera with me at all times. Because carrying a DSLR camera is not always ideal, my iPhone allowed me to capture the photographs of "A Lady by Nature" in passing moments when I felt like the scenery was worth a shot.
The lesson in my experiences is to always continue to study your crafts, even if opportunity seems to lie dormant. I had to understand and identify the need for my skills, insert myself in rooms where people have a need for my talents, see my worth and appreciate the value of my services.
For a while I listened to others and the voice inside my head was not clear for me to hear. Now I go after what I believe is right for me, regardless of what others tell me.
None of our paths or visions are the same... and that is the beauty of life.
In October of 2021, I decided to pursue the venture of DLF Studios - Spaces, services and products, in the world where people can have moments captured in a unique and long-lasting way... These past two years I have photographed Tyra Banks, Robin Roberts, many other amazing people in my community and this past April 2023, my first photography exhibit was debuted at The Artist Cafe in Springfield, MA.
These opportunities would not have presented themselves if I did not STAY READY and believe in myself first.
The Journey is NOT easy - but it is WORTH IT... for me.
